3-21-10 Cyriak and Sarah Brown – Meow

Posted by Sean on March 21, 2010

You can go have brain damage if you want, Shanoah. But if I’ve got to be a braineater, I’m gonna do the shambling undead abomination thing. That’s right, I’m gonna be a zombie.

A kitty zombie.

And I shall lead the Kitty Zombie Apocalypse.

Music by Cyriak. Art by Sarah Brown. Pay music download here.

3-19-10 Queen – Mother Love

Posted by Sean on March 19, 2010

Continuing our tribute to motherhood, here’s a passionate and heart-rending song from Freddie Mercury and Queen that’s guaranteed to make you go “Ewwwwwww”. It’s Mother Love and it’s wrong, so very wrong on so many levels.

Courtesy, interestingly enough, of MerQury.

3-17-10 Danzig – Mother

Posted by Sean on March 17, 2010

Ah, faith and beegorrrrraaaaaaah, such a foin thing ye’ve posted for St. Patty’s Day, Shanoah, don’tcha knooooow. Ye’ve posted Sinead O’Connor, that fine Irish lass who tore up a photo of the Pope on TV and who’s going to BURN BURN BURN BURN BUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRN.

Excuse me.

Anyway, I could join in with the Irish-for-the-day herd and post something else Irish today. But I’m Irish all the time (or at least a quarter of me is), so I’m going to prang the zeitgeist and instead continue on our theme of motherhood. And what better song is there in honor of that sacred institution than Mother by Glenn Danzig [1]?

Funny how many singers have mother issues, ain’t it?

[1] Talk about burning in hell…

3-16-10 The Misfits – Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight

Posted by Sean on March 16, 2010

I read about Mister Rogers being a SEAL in a piece of spam e-mail several years ago – an e-mail, by the way, that Snopes.com has debunked. But I don’t care if it’s accurate or not. The thought of Mister Rogers having confirmed kills is just too delicious to abandon.

Anyway, if you’re going to post a song about Daddy, well I’ll just have to post something about Mommy. Here’s the Misfits’ Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight, which some of you may remember will become the national anthem when I’m elected President of the United States on the Bull Platypus ticket. Not Work Safe, just because it’s the Misfits.

Courtesy of blessedwithdeath, and if that’s not the name of a Misfits  song then it should be.  Recorded live in 1981, which means that’s Glenn Danzig (author of that other paean to motherhood, Mother) up on stage.

Singled out the kids who are mean to me
Get straight A’s but they still make fun
I don’t give a… I’ll laugh last

Stayed in every night
Do my homework so I’ll be smart
Girls all say I’m a little fucked

Mommy I’m a good boy
Mommy I’m a fuckin’ savior
Mommy I’m alive

Mommy, can I go out and kill tonight

Rip the veins from human necks
Until they’re wet with life
Razor-blades love teenage flesh
An epidermathy
I’ll bring back a souvenir
For it’s my mommy’s dream

Can I go out and kill tonight, kill tonight

Killed a girl on lovers’ lane
I kept her toes and teeth
Every night I stalk around until I find my keep
I’ll bring back a souvenir
For it’s my mommy’s dream

Can I go out and kill tonight, kill tonight

Killed a girl on lovers lane
I kept her toes and teeth
Every night I stalk around until I find my keep, mommy
I’ll bring back a souvenir
For it’s my mommy’s dream

Can I go out and kill tonight, kill tonight
Kill tonight, kill tonight, kill tonight, kill tonight
Kill tonight, kill tonight

Can I go out and kill tonight, kill tonight
Kill tonight, kill tonight, kill tonight, kill tonight
Kill tonight, kill tonight

3-15-10 Lemon Demon – The Ultimate Showdown

Posted by Sean on March 15, 2010

Be careful, Shanoah. A crack comparing the Navy to bloodthirsty Vikings comes dangerously close to not Supporting Our Troops™.  And you don’t want Cobra Commander I mean the terrorists to win the Eternal War on Terror and Evil, now do you? Why, the forces of niceness and goodness and democracy and puppy dogs are locked in combat mortal with the forces of badness and not democracy and guys with beards [1] and voting Democratic! Don’t you get it!

IT’S THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN!

OF ULTIMATE DESTINY!

Courtesy of Albino Black Sheep (site here).

Do not mess with Mister Rogers, man. Guy was a SEAL. Read it in an e-mail somewhere. Dude will fuck you up.

Admit it. You would pay money to see The Ultimate Showdown adapted into a big-ticket summer blockbuster. Why, it’d be like a Joel Schumacher “re-imagining” of The Wizard of Oz! “Good guys, bad guys and explosions, oh my!”

Song by Lemon Demon AKA Neil Cicierega. Animation by AltF4 AKA Shawn Vulliez. Lyrics and free MP3 here. Oooooo, a veritable flood of goodies! Just like when my toilet overflows, only not as stinky!

[1] Which puts me squarely in the corner of evil. For some reason, I’m okay with that.

3-10-10 The Jolly Rogers – One for the Road

Posted by Sean on March 10, 2010

Awright! Back to themeless themes and drunken staggers through pop culture! Yay! And what better for a drunken stagger than one for the road?

This is a post that’s a long time in coming. Shanoah tried posting The Jolly Rogers’ One for the Road almost a year ago, but all YouTube had of this song were RenFaire captures in glorious Cell-Phone-O-Vision with thundering 4K audio.

Enter oakleafwolf, to whom I’m eternally grateful. This isn’t nearly the whole song. It goes on for six choruses. That’s a lot of booze.

Sing along! But keep in mind that if you ever did drink everything mentioned in this song in one sitting, you’d be dead. Or a Kennedy.

Full lyrics below the fold, courtesy of the Jolly Rogers here.

3-1-10 Public Enemy – Shut ‘Em Down

Posted by Sean on March 2, 2010

Y’know, Shanoah, I work in the middle of Dittoheadland, where war is peace, ignorance is strength, freedom is slavery and ‘Bama-bashing is the national sport. To give you an idea of what I have to put up with, one of my co-workers claimed just last week that the reason American fighter pilots are cocky SOBs is Obama. (Don’t ask) My office mates eagerly attack, pick apart and dissect our high epidermal melanin president and cackle like hens at his every misstep and misfortune.

As the Resident Levelhead, I try to keep my cool. I bite my tongue when my co-workers claim that they don’t trust Obama and then fail to give me coherent reasons as to why he’s lost their trust. I try not to launch into a tirade on democracy and the voting process and the rapacity of the modern GOP when I hear claims that the Democrats are acting like “gangsters” in Congress.

I keep my faith in Barack Obama.

For the most part, I succeed.

And then the bastard pulls shit like this.

And I say, “God damn it.”

Politicians like that may remind you of child-molesting clowns, Shanoah. Me, I just want to shut ’em down.

And yes, you’ve heard Shut ‘Em Down on this bat channel before. I suspect you’re going to be hearing it here again, too.

2-26-10 Thee Oh Sees – Enemy Destruct

Posted by Sean on February 26, 2010

Well, I did it again.

I made an ass out of myself on this blog, not to mention completely missed the point of Shanoah’s post [1] (but that’s nothing new).

Don’t get me wrong. My comments on Frank Miller and Holy Terror, Batman! were honest, from-the-heart and I think well-crafted making-an-ass-out-of-myselfness. The fact remains, though, that I made an ass out of myself.

So I think I’m going to muzzle my political id for a bit and instead play some freakadelic surf punk from Thee Oh Sees. It’s a bit of a wrench from traditional romantic ballads, but then musical whiplash is nothing new here.

You can kill as many hypothetical terrorists as you want, Mr. Miller. This is my kind of enemy destruct.

And if Thee Oh Sees sound familiar, and you think you’ve heard them before on this bat-channel… well, perhaps you have.

Slightly out of sync video courtesy of Parade of Flesh (site here). Recorded live in Dallas at Lounge on Elm St for Sxsflesh in March of 2009.

Here’s a faster version recorded live in glorious Black-and-White-o-Vision at Seattle’s Funhouse, and less than a week ago, no less! Who says One Neat Thing A Day is irrelevant and out of touch! We do, that’s who!

Courtesy of sebaker24.

[1] Are you saying that Dubya has a comic book mentality, Shanoah? Or are you equating President George W. Bush to Mayor Adam West? Either works, really.

2-20-10 Emalkay – Bats in the Belfry

Posted by Sean on February 20, 2010

Mmmm, bats. Yeah, we haven’t had nearly enough of them on the blog, have we, Shanoah?

This is Emalkay’s Bats in the Belfry. Not sure what it has to do with bats but, eh, whatever.

2-19-10 Immortal Technique – Freedom Of Speech

Posted by Sean on February 19, 2010

Freedom of Speech? Why, that’s always a good thing, Shanoah! Let’s hear Jesus Christ Jiminy Cricket preach it on Immortal Technique’s Freedom of Speech.

I wonder, though, if Immortal Technique really understands the whole concept of freedom of speech. Rush Limbaugh and the chuckleheads on talk radio and Faux Fox News et alia have the right to say whatever they want. It’s just that, in a healthy nation, there’d be a chorus of voices shouting back at them, and an audience that’s smart enough to know what fear mongering and mind games look and sound like.

Lyrics, which may or may not be important, courtesy of LyricWiki here. Video courtesy of catx420x.
