Well, I could respond with more SCTV; They did a lot of skits. But at the moment, I really felt like playing these three songs.
They all insisted on being in the same post, too. Having a song by Love in the middle of two songs by the Tom Tom Club feels slightly unbalanced, but I’ll go with it.
They all are good songs, after all…
Genius of Love – Tom Tom Club
If this looks familiar, it should be. The Tom Tom Club is half of Talking Heads, and this song is straight from that same Talking Heads concert I keep showing you, Stop Making Sense.
It would not surprise me in the least if at some point I find that I’ve shown you the whole concert. It’s that good.
Genius of Love, incidentally, is one of the most sampled tracks in hip-hop ever, so you probably have heard bits and pieces of this in other songs.
And I just love that bit at the beginning…
Whatcha gonna do when you get out of jail? I'm gonna have some fun. What do you consider fun? Fun, nasty fun.
Alone Again Or – Love (posted by llsgg)
And now, a break with this haunting little piece. Aligning this song, which I’ve always loved, with Phantom of the Opera was a good idea; they fit together well.
Wordy Rappinghood – Tom Tom Club
And now let’s come back to the Tom Tom Club with their full ensemble. I always liked this catchy number, for some reason, but then, I’ve always liked words.
