You don't like that, do you, Mr. Undead Marine! RRRRRR!'"

2-9-10 The Other Side of This Life

Posted by Sean on February 9, 2010

Bless Its Pointed Little Head? I think I have discovered the best album title ever. (Plus, any album cover that features what looks like Janis Joplin after a three-day champagne binge holds a weird appeal for me)

Here’s The Other Side of This Life. Recorded live at the Fillmore West and East, no less, in 1969, as was the rest of Bless Its Pointed Little Head. Lyrics here at LyricWiki.

Courtesy of canaQ, which I’m pretty sure would get you killed if you said it to a Klingon.

Me: canaQ’!
Overacting Klingon: Rahr! You son of a Denebian slime devil! I challenge you to a death duel! Rahr!
Me: Waitaminnit! I thought I was ordering sheetrock! What did I say? (Whisper whisper whisper) Oh. Really? His sister? Oh…

Would you like to know a secret just between you and me
I don’t know where I’m going next, I don’t know who I’m going to be
But that’s the other side of this life that I’ve been leading
That’s the other side of this life

While we’re on the subject of this life and diametrically opposed sides… Here’s a take – different lyrics, same title – by David Byrne, off 2004’s Growing Backwards.

Recorded live on David Letterman, if you didn’t know (and now you do!). Lyrics here, once again, at LyricWiki. Courtesy of gurto, which coincidentally is the name of the Klingon who’s about to kick my ass. Ugh…

Doctor. I’m back for a visit
The symptoms are worse than before
Althought it’s spelled wrong, my name’s up in lights
I feel so good, but you say it’s all right
I’ll pay the price if you help me to find
The other side of this life
