5-21-09 Frank Zappa, John Lennon and Yoko Ono Sounding like She’s Torturing Bambi with a Meathook, All on Stage at the Same Time. Need We Say More?

Posted by Sean on May 21, 2009

Oh, dude, I’ve got Meat City beat hands down. One night in 1971, John Lennon and Yoko Ono joined Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention on stage at one of the Fillmores. The Time Lords are still trying to repair the damage to the space-time continuum.

The song is Lennon’s Baby Please Don’t Go and, in one of the finest examples of a stoner jam I’ve ever seen, it goes on and on. And on. And on. And on.

Then it degenerates into primal scream therapy. With long uncomfortable silences. And Frank flipping off the crowd. Marcel Duchamp would be proud.
