Billy & the Boingers

Posted by shanoah on January 24, 2009

Yeah, Bloom County was a bit ahead of it’s time, wasn’t it? I always loved that strip. If you recall, Steve Dallas formed a band with Opus, Bill the Cat, etc… at one point in the strip. Originally Deathtongue, they became “Billy and the Boingers”, largely due to Tipper Gore.

And Berkley Breathed held a contest for who could produce a “Billy and the Boingers” song. This was the winning song, which got put on a record included with one of the strip collection books.

U-Stink-But-I-♥-U – Mucky Pup

Of course, I personally liked the songs they supposedly sang when going carolling, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Headbanger”, and “I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (So I Blew Him Away)”.
