You don't like that, do you, Mr. Undead Marine! RRRRRR!'"

1-7-09 Marco Benevento – Bus Ride

Posted by Sean on January 7, 2009

Well, since you went off topic, Shanoah, I’m going off topic, too! Yes! It’s Mutually Assured Destruction! Only instead of nuclear missiles, we’re using YouTube videos.

Since I’m still in a bit of a shoegazing mood, I’m also going to pull something off the back burner today. I heard this one on Irene Trudel‘s Dec. 29 show on WFMU. It wasn’t even a featured song; she used it for talkover music at the end of her show. But it caught my ear, and I tracked it down. And I’m glad I did.

This is Marco Benevento‘s Bus Ride, off his 2008 solo album Invisible Baby, available through Hyena Records. This was recorded live at New York City’s Sullivan Hall just shy of a year ago on Jan. 31, with killer video by Karina Mackenzie of Shine A Light Productions.

The only thing that’s wrong with this video is the audio. The bass is the real standout on Bus Ride and deserves the studio treatment.

clemek3800 was nice enough to set a rather bemusing little cartoon to Bus Ride, entitled Bubba goes to the park. Watch it for the song, not the cartoon.
