The Shtetl

Posted by shanoah on December 26, 2008

Normally I’d say something witty about your last post here, Sean, but it doesn’t look like you ever posted it. Which is a shame, because I thought the transition between my last post, this post, and the draft I saw of that post worked well.  Especially with that nice Jewish boy you were posting about.

Oh well, you were probably celebrating Christmas  with your family. Fortunately (or unfortunately, as the case may be), I don’t have distractions like that this year. My parents both live in different states from me, and I didn’t go anywhere this time, as it worked out.

As such, today I can bring you something rather neat I found. This band is billed as the worlds first Jewish hip hop supergroup.  I can believe it:

“The Shtetl” – Chutzpah  (Lollapalooza)

And you know, Sean, with a minor rewrite, this is a chiroptim song[1]. I’m not that big of a fan of hip hop usually, but I love the hook, “the funky funky Shtetl”. Funny thing, I looked up a few other songs Chutzpah did, and wasn’t that interested. But this one has just the right groove to it…

[1] If you don’t understand this, you don’t know Sean well enough. The chiroptim are a species of humanoid bats Sean has been known to write fiction and roleplaying games about. Occasionally with my help…
