12-16-08 Atom and His Package – Hats Off to Halford

Posted by Sean on December 16, 2008

Atom and His Package, hmm? Why, I think he’s an excellent choice, Shanoah. In fact, I shall put poor Rudolph up on the shelf for a day or two and post something from him myself. And what’s could be a better follow-up to What We Do on Christmas than Hats Off to Halford, Adam’s salute to Ron Halford of Judas Priest?

Off of 1999’s Making Love. Courtesy of boem26. Not Work Safe for a Very Bad Word that Adam says… unless you wear headphones at work, like I do. Then it’s cool.

If you don’t follow metal, or the screechy Christians who love to hate metal, you may not know why Hats Off to Halford is appropriate in this case. I shall enlighten you: In 1998, Ron Halford of Judas Priest came out of the closet on MTV… even though his bandmates and fans pretty much knew he was gay already. It was a pretty gutsy move, especially in an industry filled with “Nazi pricks” like Kerry King of Slayer. This pic of King is right off Adam’s site for a now-defunct Atom and his Package

Kerry King of Slayer, and Why Adam Goren doesn't like him too much

I think you can see why a nice Jewish boy like Adam would have… issues with Slayer.

Back to Rudolph – or something not-Nazi – tomorrow.
