12-9-08 Klezmer with pyrotechnics and REALLY big amps
Posted by Sean on December 9, 2008
Well, I’m not exactly sure how we got from Roma to Jewish music but, what the hell, let’s run with it. ‘Course, I am a headbanger, so any chance I can get to mash up my klezmer with metal, I take it… especially since chances like that don’t come along too often.
Luckily for me, there’s the Seattle Theatre Group.
The Seattle Theatre Group has a recurring show at the Moore Theatre called More Music @ The Moore that gives Seattle teens a chance to show off their musical talent, no matter what kind of music they play… or whatever strange combinations they put it together. Some of the performers decided at the March 2007 More Music @ The Moore that it would be a good idea to mash up some swinging klezmer with some screamy RAAAAAAAHHHHHH metal. The results, as with most mash ups, is unexpected. And like most mashups, it also works.
