Sorry about the delay on a post. I just haven’t really been inspired to write anything here. Here are a few things I’ve been listening to in the last few days:

Found this on last.fm’s Irish Coffee radio station. This is Regölés by Ghymes, and don’t even ask me to pronounce that. Really cool music, though. I don’t really get a chance to hear Hungarian music that often.

This is for everyone who was having trouble pronouncing the last song name. It’s listed as “Колыбельные мира. Идиш.”. I was able to find a translation of the lyrics, and they were listed as “Oyfn Veg Shteyt A Boym”. Nice Yiddish folksong, in any case, and the video seems to correspond pretty well to the song. Wish I could tell you who created the video or who the musician is.

This one is for anyone who is curious what the Cat Stevens song Wild World would sound like with lyrics in Zulu. And this is sung by Cat Stevens Steven Demetre Georgiou Yusuf Islam Yusuf.

It might be easiest to just call him the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens. He’s back to creating cds as Yusuf as of 2006, after his whole thing of changing his name to Yusuf Islam in 1977, converting to Islam, and abandoning music.

Well, I’m sort of continuing with the mashup theme.

This isn’t actually a song mashup but a video mashup, though.

It starts out with a scene from the Fred Astaire movie Daddy Long Legs (1955), and then switches to scenes from The Band Wagon (1953). The music, however, is Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal.

So the overall effect is that of Fred Astaire dancing to Smooth Criminal. And, surprisingly, it works very well. And you can tell that Michael Jackson got inspiration from Fred Astaire…

Well, keeping going with the theme for now. I may diverge into Japanese Shakespeare shortly, given the strange stuff I’ve been finding, though.

This next song, Cat and the Fiddle, I first heard on one of Heather Alexanders albums called Life’s Flame. I’m assuming it’s on the album Cat and the Fiddle, too, but I could be wrong.

It’s just a nice, light-hearted, fun song.

Dance all day with the cat and the fiddle; come and lay with the heather on the hill…

Sometimes I have no idea how I got to a video. Or even if I do, it’s from a strange enough route that I have to wonder anyways.

This is a case in point. However bizarre it was, earlier I was looking at a Japanese cast singing “Jesus Christ Superstar” (and that was very cool. Too bad it didn’t allow embedding.). And later, I was watching parts of Andrew Lloyd Webers “CATS” in Japanese.

None of that explains how I got to this odd fan made video, titled Overdrive, by IOSYS. After watching a purely Japanese version, I grabbed a version with subtitles. It didn’t help, though I’m assured this features Reisen Udongein Inaba, the Moon Rabbit.

Warning: this video may cause insanity in laboratory rabbits in clinical studies. And it’s not worksafe, besides that.

You know, it’s almost a shame that I don’t really have time today to come up with something on theme. Though, given that the artist name on this says The Scientist / DJ Hype, and you were doing The Rocketman, I suppose this is close enough.

This song was on the record label Kickin Records in 1990, and is titled The Exorcist. And the record label name sure is accurate. Really catchy piece, and fun to listen to.

And given the things you’ve posted in the past, thought I may as well post another piece by The Scientist, The Bees.It’s worth noting that both these videos were posted by rockyfistscats. And whatever he may do to cats, he appears to have a huge collection of records posted…

PS: As a footnote, I had just gotten up when I was typing this post up. After posting, I went to get a shower, and when I looked in the mirror, realised that I had total, absolute mad-scientist hair going. That doesn’t really happen to me that often. It was sticking in all directions, and curling around at eldritch angles.

In a way, it was a shame I had to wash it. If I’d had hair spray, I might have just sprayed it in place, and left it like that. But I thought I’d note that, since it’s always interesting when there’s a tie-in to real life in your posts that you don’t realise is going on…

Well, I didn’t really play with an Intellavision that much, Sean. (Though I’m fairly sure it didn’t have Grand Theft Auto…)

I did play a bunch of old mac games, though. As far as RPGs go, I used to like Taskmaker & Tomb of the Taskmaker, and I still play them in emulation occassionally with Basilisk II. Or, did you ever play Dark Castle? I died a lot, but the sound effects were great:

I wasted a lot of hours with Scarab of Ra, too, finding treasure, and being harrassed by monkeys, and chased by panthers, and mummies:

And that’s not even to mention Fool’s Errand. I don’t even know how many hours I wasted on this classic game. A Tarot based storyline with lots of fiendish puzzles. Cliff Johnson wrote 3 in Three[1], and At the Carnival, too. He even has them on his site for free download:

I loved this game. Only other puzzle game I played that approached one of Cliff Johnson’s games was Systems Twilight. But then, I’ve always loved Andrew Plotkins games, too.

Glad that I turned it up then, Sean. Makes sense that Solaris and Stalker had the same director. They did seem to have the same style.

Wish I had something equal to follow up today’s KID606 post. I looked around, but eventually just found myself chilling out to the Isley Brothers song “Who’s That Lady?”. Not that that’s at all a bad thing, of course. That song is a great jam.

No movie to this one, but I listened to a couple youtube videos of it to find one with good sound, so picture wasn’t really top priority.

Well, to continue the cat theme, I thought I’d share two scenes from an anime called Da Capo, in which one of the charactors is a cat who has become a cat girl. Not that uncommon an occurrance in Japan. Haven’t watched the anime; I think it’s one of these ‘one boy, lots of women chasing him’ types.

The catgirl in question, Yoriko, used to be a house cat who was afraid of humans other then the one she lived with. The first clip is about her trying to confront that fear:

And the second clip I believe is supposed to be a dream of hers. Featuring hot cat on cat on cat on cat on catgirl action. Or something like that:

Oh, and in the series, she becomes a catgirl maid.

Burnt out today myself. Had the type of day that makes me sympathise with the cat in this short animation:

Neko no Shuukai – Makoto Shinkai

The extremely observant may note that Makoto Shinkai was also the person who did “She and Her Cat“. Only this time, he has cats with friggin’ lazer beams coming out of their eyes. This was actually a short from Ani*Kuri15. And, no, I dont have a translation. The only youtube video with subtitles of this clearly had fake subtitles, unfortunately.

You know, I’m not totally sure how posting about sex right after a series of videos featuring a cute girl wearing practically nothing is changing themes, Sean. Perhaps because she can electrocute you?

However, I decided to combine themes. You see, what a lot of the guys in Japan will be doing who don’t have dates this valentines day is playing hentai games. (You see, that’s why they don’t have da— oh, never mind…) So, I decided my theme for the day was hentai dating games/animes. Enjoy!

Sis Pri Mode Opening

This is actually a hentai anime, but there is a dating game of the same name. Frequent visitors (if there is such a thing) may note that this a a parody of Neko Mimi Mode. Fittingly, that post I just linked to also has one of the two other hantai game clips I’ve shown.(Here’s the other.) And, yes, she is saying “I love you, big brother” at the end. It’s about a boy with 12 attractive sisters he loves. Or so I’ve heard. I found it because it was parodying Niko Mimi Mode…

This game looks hella cool. A hard boiled detective hentai game. Girls with guns and long, sexy legs. Hits a few of my kinks, but then I do like hardboiled detective stories occassionally. I just prefer fantasy or sci-fi mixed in, which is harder to find. (But not impossible: Jack Chalkers G.O.D Inc. trilogy, P.N. Elrods The Vampire Files series, The Adept series (though that’s more occult then fantasy), Simon Green’s Nightside series, and Jim Butcher’s Dredsen Files series all come to mind). But I may be getting sidetracked…

Full Animation Mahjong – LEAF

Yes, that’s right, this is a hentai mahjong game. With characters that look like they walked right out of Disgaea. It’s almost like half the team wanted to do a fantasy rpg hentai game, and the other half wanted to do mahjong, and they decided to come up with a compromise.
