7-13-09 Thomas Dolby – One of Our Submarines Is Missing

Posted by gavortnik on July 13, 2009

I think that is an excellent idea, Mr. Alkire. More Thomas Dolby! More 80s synth-pop! And in keeping with the reason for the season, here’s the B-side of the 1982 single for She Blinded Me With Science: the extended version of One of Our Submarines Is Missing.

And no, I have no idea what Mr. Dolby is talking about or why the absence of a submarine should be immortalized in song. All I know is that I like it.

Puppet Theatre

Posted by shanoah on July 13, 2009

Think I’ll continue on the Thomas Dolby theme as well. He seems like a good musician, after all.

This song is Puppet Theatre, off the cd single of Silk Pajamas, apparently. This song was actually written to a backbeat Dolby had previously written for Whodini’s Magic Wand. Think I actually like this song better, though.
