5-4-09 The Blame Game

Posted by gavortnik on May 4, 2009

Well, Shanoah, it’s kind of hard to post something to your Internet-based blog when your Internet is down. Some might blame this on Cox Communications. Others may blame this on a Windows resource conflict, or maybe a pooched driver or out-of-date hardware or a simple corrupted registry entry.

Me? I blame it on the samba.

Micro Chip League song courtesy of DJ Fred Miami.

Or maybe I’ll blame it on the boogie.

Jackson Five song courtesy of mjfreak93.

Or maybe I’ll blame it on the samba again.

Organ by Ethel Smith and vocals by the Dinning Sisters (no, I haven’t heard of them, either), courtesy of wolfcruiser.

Ah, hell with it, I’ll just blame it on the alcohol.

Rising of the Bad Moon

Posted by shanoah on May 4, 2009

Nothing new posted yet?

Oh well, I’ll assume that the theme is still Irish rebellion songs. (Though it easily could have gone to war in general, Boy George, or other places, after my last post.)

So, why don’t I start out with The Rising of the Moon, about the Irish rebellion of 1798. (They rebel a lot, so you have to date these things). This recording of it is by Na Casaidigh. It’s one of these songs that just about every Irish band has recorded, though.

I’ll follow it up with a Scottish band playing a cover of a song that most Scottish bands don’t play, being played very differently then normal. This is Battlefield Band with Bad Moon Rising, a song originally by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
