Old Dun Cow

Posted by shanoah on April 21, 2009

Well, you know, Sean, the song that would have been a natural response to One Bourbon, One Scotch, OneĀ Beer for me unfortunately has embedding disabled (and lower sound quality then I’d like) so I can’t play it here. Which is a pity, because One for the road, by the Jolly Rogers, would have been perfect.

I’ll have one whiskey, one porter, one rye
And bring me some cider I’ll give that a try
Bring me two rums, one buttered one cold
And bring me a scotch at least 7 years old

Then bring on the wine I’ll start with the Port
And wash it all down with a beer of some sort
The brandy and sherry some grog and some ale
Some old mountain dew and a good howlin’ gale

Mead, stout, vermouth and gin
Vodka, bourbon, and a sly grin
Moonshine, tequila, cognac and schnapps
Some old sour mash and two belly flops
Goldwasser, ouzo, white lightning, green toad
Absinthe, sombuca, and one for the road!

I guess I’ll play Old Dun Cow instead. It’s pretty much a Renn-faire traditional, though it goes back at least to the 1930’s. There are a lot of different performances of it on Youtube. This time I thought I’d go with a performance by the Pyrates!.
