Thanks Shanoah. Things are actually better today. I got something approximating a decent amount of sleep last night, and I’ve been taking it easy today. If there’s any bright side to this, it’s that it all happened after the hump of the week. I really was living for the weekend the last few days, and now I’ve got some time to regroup and take stock of things.

You’re right, Shanoah. I actually could use a little polka right now. Polka’s a maligned genre in the United States and, for all I know, the world. But I must be crazy (The Peanut Gallery: “Whaddya mean must be!”), because I like it, and I always have. Maybe it’s the German and Polish blood in me. Maybe it’s because polka is made and played for pleasure and nothing else. I mean, I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to make hardcore death polka. Now, I could analyze this peculiar facet of American culture and get all bloggy about it, and there’s a part of me that really wants to. But not right now.

So how about a nice polka?

I was hunting around YouTube for some polka videos for your neat thing today when I discovered two unusual and slightly disturbing facts:

1. There are a lot of AMVs set to polka on YouTube.
2. Most of said polka is from Weird Al Yankovic.
