Bad Things

Posted by shanoah on June 19, 2008

Ah yes, Mrs. Miller. I recall her rendition of Downtown well. I found a “Golden Throats” cd, with various people butchering Beatles songs, and tracked down a couple of the other in the series with different themes, one of which had Mrs. Miller on it.

All the songs on the Golden Throats cds were supposed to be bad, but some were just memorable. Such as Mrs. Miller. And Norwegian Wood to the Mission Impossible theme music.

On the other hand, some were just bad. Like this:

The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins – Leonard Nemoy

Just what was Leonard Nemoy thinking? The song is bad enough without this video. Adding the video in is just…. urrrghh…

I was tempted to use the full length version, but why prolong it? Besides, the videos lip-syncing didn’t look as good in that version.

This wasn’t the only thing he did to capitalise on Star Trek…

Highly Illogical – Leonard Nemoy

Well, at least it doesn’t involve Bilbo. He doesn’t hold a candle to Shanter, though:

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds – William Shatner

The animation by Paul Heriot on this is rather clever, as William Shatner does some unbeatably bad “singing”. Though I regret this doesn’t have the bizarre opening the song normally has.

And just look at this:

Mr Tambourine Man – William Shatner

It’s so sad, it’s funny. Especially how he just shouts “MR. TAMBOURINE MAN!!” at the end. And having the Green Lantern lip sync it was a nice touch by ArvelJoffi.
