Art & Paul

Posted by shanoah on June 12, 2008

For today, I elected to go with a theme of songs by either Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, or both. There were quite a lot of songs I could have put here, but I decided to do one from each, and one together.

Sorry if the overall theme of the music is a little depressing; that just happened.

Bright Eyes – Art Garfunkel (clips from Watership Down)

All right, here we have a sad, and somewhat depressing song by Art Garfunkel, to scenes from Watership Down. Including eerie ghost rabbits. Seems appropriate. Video by taqu.

Slip Slidin’ Away – Paul Simon

And this is Paul Simon’s “Slip Slidin’ Away”. A lovely song on it’s own merits. Lots of powerful imagery.

Flowers Never Bend With the Rainfall – Simon & Garfunkel

And this is classic Simon & Garfunkel. Music where the lyrics are sheer poetry. Think about lyrics like this, for example:

“I’m blinded by the light
Of God and truth and right
And I wander in the night without direction.”

Amazing. That is why I continue to like music by Simon and Garfunkel.
