The Black Mages – Vivi Vivi Vivi
Posted by shanoah on June 6, 2008
Well, perhaps not Vivi Vivi Vivi, unfortunately, but Final Fantasy, at least. Sorry, Sean, but I couldn’t resist after your post. The Black Mages are a rock group formed by Nobuo Uematsu, the composer of a good deal of music for the Final Fantasy series. These guy absolutely rock out with game music.
Some of you may think this is incredibly geeky. I’m not necessarily going to argue, but with the quality of game music we’re talking about, this is often comparable with classical music. (And I do actually enjoy classical music on occasion.)
Vamo Alla Flamenco – The Black Mages (2nd Live Above The Sky)
This theme is from Final Fantasy 9, when Zadane is fighting Blank. Sadly, despite their name, this appears to be the only Final Fantasy 9 themes song they play.
One Winged Angel – The Black Mages
If most people were asked to think of one song from Final Fantasy, this song, Sephiroth’s theme from Final Fantasy 7, is the most likely to be picked. They have more then one version of One Winged Angel they play.
This is one of the more faithful ones. And Final Fantasy 7 is probably their most popular game ever. (Hence the prequel, Crisis Core, which I’m playing right now and enjoying).
Winning The Rainbow – The Black Mages (2nd Live Above The Sky)
This song’s a little unique among the ones in this post for one reason; this actually is an original song by the Black Mages, and not from a Final Fantasy game. Up to their usual quality, though.
