The Cyclops, the Martian, and the Monsters

Posted by shanoah on May 16, 2008

All right, intermissions over. In fact, it looks like your post arrived right about the time the intermission did. Oh well…

Since you’re posting about Martians, Sean, I thought this would be an appropriate time to post a few Dr. Demento tunes. Plus one by They Might Be Giants, of course, but who’s counting?

Cyclops Rock – They Might Be Giants

This is a classic They Might Be Giants song in that the lyrics stick in your head, and while you know what they are staying, they are still utterly incomprehensible and fascinating.

Martian Boogie – Brownville Station

This is the song that started me on this post. A classic story of going out to eat one day and running into a Martian. Entertaining song, if nothing else.

The Monster Mash – Bobby (Boris) Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers

And, of course, back to the classics. Everyone knows the Monster mash; in fact, the Misfits did a cover. What I’m playing here is the original, though, whith a montage of horror movie clips going by as it plays. It cuts off something like 5 seconds too soon, but the syncing of the horror clips was so good that I didn’t really care that much…
