5-6-08 The Logical Song

Speaking of Supertramp, how could we without mentioning The Logical Song? Courtesy of the dour-named ShadowsInRain.
Now, that’s a good song. Who hasn’t felt like this during at least some point in their life – directionless, confused, not knowing what or who to believe and distrusting even yourself. It’s a product of its time, a child of the anchorless 1970s, and a classic with bona fide bona fides.
But it seems a little… dated, doesn’t it? I wonder how we can freshen it up a bit – you know, slap on a new coat of paint and such. Perhaps ryroo can show us the way…
Of course! We can turn a delicate tune about postmodern angst into a techno beat called Ramp! (The Logical Song), complete with a video that looks like the love child of Blade and The Fast and the Furious! Eminem-lookalike Scooter seems to have missed the point of The Logical Song just a bit, don’t you think?
Or maybe not. The Logical Song is all about angst, right? And who’s more angsty than people who lived through the 1970s and listen to Supertramp and the lost generation that listens to Scooter, hm? The only difference is that one wallows in it while the other runs away from it as fast as they can, with the subwoofer cranked up all the way and rattling the rivets out of their car to drown out their screams.
