Caffeine, Pterodactyls, and Cats

Posted by shanoah on April 30, 2008

You may recall a post I did a while ago with two Cat animations, one of which was by Michael Sporn. Michael himself left the following comment, which I thought I’d share:

Thanks for posting my Sesame Street spot, “The Curious Cat.” The meow is probably the same; they both came from an effects library. The music in my spot was written and sung by Jeremy Steig, a well known jazz flutist who was also the son of cartoonist, William Steig.

This in turn led me to his blog, which turned out to be well worth skimming through, with some amazing sketchwork from Bambi, and a picture that caught my eye of Betty Boop’s skeleton, among other things.

I also thought I’d share the title piece from Jeremy Steig’s new cd, Pterodactyl. The music is all done with flutes and bottles:

Pterodactyl - Jeremy Steig

On another note, here’s an offbeat AMV I thought would be fun to post:

Caffeine Encomium - Kodacha

The William Tell Overture is a great choice of music for clips from Kodacha to be put to, and I think it captures the spirit of the main character, Sana, quite well.

Yes, she is that hyperactive all the time. It’s a rather odd offbeat series about a child actor and the everyday drama of her life. Though the official dubbing seems to have removed references to Rei being her “pimp” which I think is a sad, sad thing.

Ah well, I prefer subtitles, anyways.
