Dementia

Posted by shanoah on April 3, 2008

You know, I had a music video that I think is pretty cool, and seemed almost like something Sean would post. And I’ll probably still post it, but not today. I also almost did a post revolving around Sha Na Na, and then 70’s music, but, again, not today.

Given Seans theme of Sacred Clowns, I decided to go for novelty music instead; the type of things that are likely to turn up on Dr. Demento. And given my collection of Dr Demento music, that was hardly a difficult theme to fill…

First is one that wasn’t on Dr. Demento to my knowledge. I happen to be very fond of the movie Little Shop of Horrors[1], and of all the songs in it, the Dentist song is probably my favorite. Steve Martin does a great job filling the role:

Little Shop of Horrors – Dentist!

Of course, several songs were cut from the movie that were in the Broadway version, and the movie had an extra song as well[2]. But I digress.

Next is another song you are likely to have heard. You may not have seen the music video that goes with it, though:

The Homecoming Queen Has A Gun – Julie Brown

Julie Brown is her usual outrageous self[3] in this video about highschool shootings, The Homecoming Queen Has a Gun. My favorite bit is probably right at the end, when someone steals the tiara. :)

And finally, I have Green Jelly with “Little Pig” and lots of claymation. Need I saw more? Warning; fairly loud.

Little Pig – Green Jelly

[1] In fact, more clips are likely to surface later on. Like the scrapped multi-million dollar ending, for example. And I’m talking about the color one based on the Broadway show; not the cheap black & white one with Jack Nicholson in it.

[2]Mean Green Mother From Outer Space

[3] As can be seen in ‘Cause I’m A Blond, or “Trapped In the Body of a White Girl”. Though, come to think of it, the latter really belongs in a mad scientist music video post. Hmm…
