You don't like that, do you, Mr. Undead Marine! RRRRRR!'"

Happy cheerful things

Posted by shanoah on March 19, 2008

It’s a shame to hear about Arthur C Clarke. I have read a number of his books, though Ray Bradbury played more of the role for me that Arthur C Clarke did for Sean. Ray Bradbury’s another one of these seemingly immortal writers, too, so I can imagine how I’d feel if he’d died…

Hear are a couple songs I thought I’d post for all of you that have been going through the day with an unaccountably cheerful and happy attitude[1]:

Here is Steeleye Span’s rather different rendition of “Bedlam Boys“, a song I’ve been interested in for a while. The pictures are a tribute to the Papin Sisters doing what they are best at.

This song is one of the Child Ballads, “Twa Corbies“. All in 17th century Scots, this song is about two Ravens, going out for a bite to eat.

This is Hayley Westenra’s rendition of a lovely traditional Irish song, “She Moved Through the Fair”, that has been sung by quite a number of artists. The lady in the accompanying video is Mary Lademan.

[1] One, after all, can’t let them *stay* like that.
